The hotel
Grand Solmar Land's End Resort & Spa is an all-suite resort at the southern tip of the Baja California peninsula in Cabo San Lucas, built into the rocks of Land's End on the Pacific side, next to the Arch. It is about 0.8 km in a straight line from the Cabo San Lucas marina, around 3 minutes by car without traffic, and longer at rush hour. The resort opened in 2011, has 247 suites and belongs to Solmar Hotels & Resorts, a family company founded in Cabo San Lucas.
The resort sits on a stretch of white sand on the Pacific side of Land's End, framed by cliffs and reached through the hotel. The surf there is not safe for swimming, so the resort relies on its infinity pools.1
History and curious facts
The story of Grand Solmar starts with Luis Bulnes Molleda, who arrived in Cabo San Lucas from Ribadesella, Spain, in 1954 to manage the local tuna cannery, when the town had about 400 inhabitants and no hotels. In 1974 he opened his own Hotel Solmar, with 20 rooms and two suites, close to Land's End. His family grew that hotel into Solmar Hotels & Resorts, the only hotel chain born at Land's End, and no other hospitality brand has built hotels on that headland. Grand Solmar Land's End opened in February 2011, the same year Luis Bulnes died, and the Solmar Foundation was created that year in his honor. The resort was built in three phases: by 2015 it had 244 suites in nine buildings with seven pools, and the final phase, finished in April 2016, added a redesigned lobby closer to the entrance, two dining venues and a new spa. His son Francisco Bulnes led the company until 2021, and Rosario Bulnes Malo is now its president. Today the hotel lists 247 suites, from Grand Studios to four-bedroom penthouses.

The Arch is the granite formation at the southern tip of Cabo San Lucas, where the Pacific becomes the Gulf of California. Lovers Beach is on its Sea of Cortez side and Divorce Beach on the Pacific side, the side the resort faces.5
A statue of the founder of Solmar stands on the marina boardwalk, a short ride from the hotel.2
Getting to the marina
Grand Solmar Land's End Resort & Spa is 0.8 km in a straight line from Marina Cabo San Lucas, and the closest boarding dock is Arte Surf. The trip is about 3 min by car without traffic, according to the route OSRM calculates with OpenStreetMap data. At rush hour the drive takes longer, so give yourself a margin before boarding.

Boarding docks
There is no single dock for every boat. Each yacht boards at its own dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas, and your boarding pass has the exact one with a map link. These are the meeting points and the yachts that use each one:
Your yacht day
Grand Solmar sits right at Land's End, and the marina is only about 0.8 km away in a straight line. Our driver picks you up at the hotel entrance and drops you at your yacht's dock inside the marina; you pay the transfer to the driver, and the price depends on the hotel zone. The resort's beach faces the open Pacific and is not safe for swimming, so a snorkel charter is the easiest way to get into the sea. Families in the multi-bedroom penthouses can fill a whole yacht for a private snorkel or family outing, couples tend to book the sunset trip, and between December and April a whale watching charter leaves from the same docks.
