The hotel
Sandos Finisterra is a 272-room all-inclusive resort built into the cliffs between the Pacific Ocean and the marina of Cabo San Lucas. It is steps from the Cabo San Lucas Marina, around 2 minutes by car without traffic and more at rush hour. The hotel first opened in 1971 as Hotel Finisterra.
The resort runs from the clifftop down to a beach on the Pacific. Cabo's Pacific beaches, like nearby Playa Solmar, have rogue waves and undertow, so most guests swim in the beachfront pools.1
History and curious facts
Hotel Finisterra opened near Land's End in 1971. It was built by Luis Cóppola Bonillas, Luis Bulnes and Raúl Aréchiga. Bulnes later sold his shares and went on to found the Solmar group. The Finisterra was not the town's first hotel; Hotel Hacienda had opened in 1963 at the junction of what is now the marina and Playa El Médano.
In October 2012, Sandos Hotels & Resorts announced it was bringing the property into its brand as Sandos Finisterra Los Cabos, with views over the Pacific and the bay. Today the resort has 272 rooms. Some of them hang out from the rock face, and a section called the Finisterra Suites sits on top of the cliff with its own VIP pool deck. Sandos puts it about a 10-minute walk from the marina and downtown.

The long Pacific beach toward Land's End is good for walks and sunsets, not for swimming.1
The swimming beach of Cabo San Lucas starts on the east side of the marina entrance, across the bay from the hotel.1
Getting to the marina
Sandos Finisterra is steps from Marina Cabo San Lucas, and the closest boarding dock is Arte Surf. The trip is about 2 min by car without traffic, according to the route OSRM calculates with OpenStreetMap data. At rush hour the drive takes longer, so give yourself a margin before boarding.
We can book a driver who picks you up at the hotel, takes you to your yacht and brings you back. Sandos Finisterra is in Zone 3: Cabo San Lucas, Hacienda Encantada, Puerto Los Cabos. The prices below are per vehicle and in USD, and you pay them to the driver on the day, separately from the yacht: the first price in cash, or the second by card on the driver's terminal, which adds a 5% fee.

Boarding docks
There is no single dock for every boat. Each yacht boards at its own dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas, and your boarding pass has the exact one with a map link. These are the meeting points and the yachts that use each one:
Your yacht day
Sandos Finisterra is close to the marina, so getting to your yacht is quick: our driver picks you up at the hotel and reaches the Marina in about 2 minutes without traffic, close to your yacht's dock. The resort has a kids club and many families stay here, so a family charter with a snorkel stop works well. Since the Pacific beach below the hotel is not for swimming, the yacht is the easy way to reach calm water on the bay side. From December to April, the whales you may spot from the cliff can be seen up close on a whale-watching trip. Couples can book a sunset sail and watch the hotel's cliffs turn orange from the water. The driver takes you back afterward.
