The hotel
Marquis Los Cabos Resort & Spa is an adults-only, all-inclusive beach resort of 235 suites at km 21.5 of the Carretera Transpeninsular, in Cabo Real on the Tourist Corridor between San José del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. It is about 19.2 km from the Cabo San Lucas Marina, around 24 minutes by car without traffic; at rush hour the drive takes longer. Hoteles Marquis, a company based in Mexico City, runs it, and it belongs to The Leading Hotels of the World.
The resort is on the beach facing the Sea of Cortez, with three beachfront pools and casitas a few steps from the sand. The official site does not say whether the sea in front is safe for swimming.1

The story of Marquis Los Cabos Resort & Spa
The resort has changed hands in its management more than once. In the fall of 2011 AMResorts took over operations and reopened it as Secrets Marquis Los Cabos, an adults-only resort with 235 rooms, about 25 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport. In April 2015 the property reopened under the management of Hoteles Marquis, the Mexico City company whose name it carries, after a 10 million dollar redesign. At that point it had 235 oceanfront suites: 203 deluxe suites, 26 one-bedroom casitas, five master suites with plunge pools and a two-bedroom presidential suite, ranging from about 650 to 2,600 square feet. The open-air lobby has a 40-foot cascading waterfall, and sculptures and original works by Latin American artists are placed around the grounds.
