You can have a DJ on our private yachts of 40 ft or more in Cabo San Lucas. The smaller boats don't have the deck space and the 110 V power the DJ's gear needs. The DJ brings a set built around your group, a compact sound system, a wireless mic and LED lights, and costs from USD 399 for 2 hours (USD 649 for 3 hours on 50 ft and up, their minimum), plus USD 150 per extra hour, paid directly to the DJ. For a group that wants room to dance, look at the Sea Ray 55 for up to 15 guests (USD 2,709 / MXN 51,499 for four hours) or the Sea Ray 40 for up to 12 (USD 1,499 / MXN 28,499). Yacht prices are per boat with the 16% tax included; the DJ is paid separately. The Sea Ray 55 boards at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock and the Sea Ray 40 at Dock E, both in IGY Marina Cabo San Lucas, so the party can stay anchored in the bay until 10 PM.
Which yacht fits a DJ in Cabo?
The DJ goes on yachts of 40 ft or more, which have the deck space and the 110 V power for the sound system and the lights. Of those, these give the group the most room to dance without blocking the crew:
| Yacht | Guests | 4 hours, per boat | Why it works for a DJ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sea Ray 40 | Up to 12 | USD 1,499 / MXN 28,499 | Flybridge, the lowest price from 40 ft |
| Sea Ray 55 | Up to 15 | USD 2,709 / MXN 51,499 | Flybridge, A/C, cabins and heads |
| Sea Ray 65 | Up to 12 | USD 2,999 / MXN 56,999 | 65 ft express yacht; meets you at Fisherman's Landing restaurant, by the Cabo Escape terminal, back by 8 PM |
| Azimut 70 | Up to 12 | USD 5,299 / MXN 100,699 | Flybridge, two cabins, A/C salon, menu and complimentary drinks |
| McKinna 70 | Up to 12 | USD 5,999 / MXN 113,999 | Crew of five, chef, complimentary drinks |
The Sea Ray 40 is the lowest-priced yacht that takes a DJ: a 40 ft flybridge yacht for up to 12, boarding at Dock E of IGY Marina. A group of up to 18 on the Pontoon 38 runs its own playlist instead, since the DJ needs a yacht of 40 ft or more.
The Sea Ray 55 suits a group that wants air conditioning and real bathrooms for a longer afternoon. It also includes a floating pool, a paddle board, a lily pad floating mat and a floating platform for the swim stop between sets.

Looking for a 60 ft yacht for a DJ?
We get asked for a 60-footer, and we don't have one. The fleet goes 55, 65, 70. If 60 feet was shorthand for "big enough for a real party," the Sea Ray 55 is the one to look at, because it carries more guests than the bigger yachts: 15 against 12 on the Sea Ray 65 and both 70s.
If it was shorthand for luxury, the two 70-footers are the top of the fleet, and our luxury yachts page compares them.
What a DJ party on a yacht costs per person
The yacht price is per boat with tax included. The customary 15% crew tip is not included, and neither is the DJ. These per-person numbers assume a full boat, four hours and no tip.
Set your group size and hours to see what each yacht costs per person.

| Maxum 45 (12) | USD 1,699 / MXN 32,299 | about USD 142 |
| Sea Ray 55 (15) | USD 2,709 / MXN 51,499 | about USD 181 |
| Sea Ray 65 (12) | USD 2,999 / MXN 56,999 | about USD 250 |

| McKinna 70 (12) | USD 5,999 / MXN 113,999 | about USD 500 |
The DJ is paid on top of that, directly to the DJ. The price depends on the yacht's length and the hours:

The yacht is paid through a secure Stripe link once the date is confirmed in writing.
Sound and gear: what the DJ brings
The DJ brings the gear: a compact sound system, a wireless mic for the toasts and LED lights for the evening part. It needs deck space and 110 V power, which is why it goes on yachts of 40 ft or more, from the Sea Ray 40 up. Live music (sax, percussion, dancers) is quoted separately.

A four-hour DJ party on the water
On a boat, the crew needs quiet moments to anchor and to run the swim stop, and most groups want the loud part to land at sunset. A plan that works:
- First hour: leave Marina Cabo San Lucas, warm-up music on the way out past Pelican Rock, the sea lion colony and the Arch.
- Second hour: anchor on the calm bay side near Lover's Beach for the swim stop. On the Sea Ray 55 that means the floating pool and the floating platform.
- Third hour: food on board and a mellower set while the group dries off.
- Fourth hour: the main set, timed for the sunset if you left in the late afternoon, then the ride back along Médano Beach with the town lights on.
The captain picks the anchorage based on that day's water, and swimming is only when the boat is anchored and the crew says go.

How late can the music go?
Departures run from 7 AM to 7 PM, and yachts sail until 8 PM. After that, yachts that left from the marina may stay anchored in the bay until 10 PM, which is where the evening part of a DJ party happens: anchored off Médano Beach with the hotels lit up behind you.
Sunset is much earlier in winter than in summer, so check the trip guide for the time on your date. A four-hour charter leaving at 6 PM sails until 8 PM and spends the last two hours anchored in the bay.
The Sea Ray 65 can't do the late version. It meets you at Fisherman's Landing restaurant, by the Cabo Escape terminal, which closes at 8 PM, so it has to be back by then.
Drinks, food and the rules that apply
The yachts don't sell or serve alcohol. Guests 18 and over bring their own and load it into the cooler at the dock. Cans beat glass on a deck where people are dancing barefoot. The Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70 are the exceptions: on both, the crew serves complimentary drinks, and the price includes food (a menu on board on the Azimut 70; a chef and a multi-course menu on the McKinna 70).
On every other yacht, food is optional and ordered in the planner at cash prices in pesos (card payments add 16%): a Mexican feast for 14 to 16 is MXN 4,550, a burrito platter MXN 901, and bottled water MXN 17. Order more water than you think a dancing group needs.
A few things that apply to every charter:
- Guest limits are firm. The DJ counts as a guest.
- Decorations are cardstock and a sign only. The Port Captain no longer allows balloons on board, and loose confetti or glitter is out.
- A professional photographer can join for USD 180, with all the photos from your charter, paid directly to the photographer. Add it in the planner.
- If the Port Captain closes the harbor under a storm threat, which happens mostly between September and mid-October, you get a new date or a full refund.
Don't need a DJ? Run the playlist yourself
Plenty of groups skip the DJ and run their own music, and on the boats under 40 ft that's how the music works. On the Chaparral 28 you connect to the Bluetooth system and go. On the other yachts, ask about the sound setup when you book. Either way, download the playlist to a phone before you leave the dock, because the music shouldn't depend on cell signal out by the Arch, and bring a charging cable.
Our Cabo party boat guide covers the no-DJ version of the same day in more detail, and our large groups guide explains what to do when the headcount passes 18.
