Cabo events in February 2027: the full calendar, date by date

February 2027 in Los Cabos opens with Mexico's Constitution Day long weekend, Saturday, January 30 to Monday, February 1, followed by the 21K Los Cabos half marathon in San José del Cabo on Sunday, February 7 (confirm the date with the organizer). Valentine's Day falls on a Sunday, and February is peak humpback whale season. Two hours north, La Paz has the La Pazion Fest salsa weekend (February 5 to 7) and its carnival, which hasn't announced dates yet.

As of October 8, 2026, the Baja California Sur tourism calendar (SETUE) has no listings for February 2027. Everything below comes from the organizers and the local press, and we flag anything that isn't confirmed.

The February 1 long weekend

Mexico's Constitution Day holiday is observed on the first Monday of February, which in 2027 is February 1. That gives Mexican families a long weekend from Saturday, January 30 through Monday, February 1.

It's the first long weekend of the year, and plenty of families from the rest of Mexico spend it in Cabo. If your trip overlaps, book your boat early: the Saturday and Sunday of a long weekend are the first days to go.

21K Los Cabos half marathon in San José del Cabo (February 7)

The 21K Los Cabos is listed for Sunday, February 7, 2027, starting and finishing at Plaza Mijares in downtown San José del Cabo. There are three races, 21K, 10K and 5K, on a course certified by World Athletics and AIMS. Merka Sport and the Ayuntamiento de Los Cabos organize it.

That date comes from a race listings site. The official registration page wouldn't load when we checked, so confirm the date with the organizer before you book flights around it. 2027 entry fees haven't been published; in 2026 they were MXN 850 for the 21K, MXN 650 for the 10K and MXN 550 for the 5K.

La Paz carnival: theme confirmed, dates not

Carnaval La Paz 2027 has a theme, "La Fiesta del Futuro" (the party of the future), and the call for carnival queen candidates is open until October 30, 2026. The dates haven't been published.

Here's what we can go on. In 2026 the carnival ran Thursday, February 12 to Tuesday, February 17 on the waterfront, ending the day before Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday 2027 is February 10, so if La Paz keeps the same pattern, the carnival would run Thursday, February 4 to Tuesday, February 9. That's our projection, not an announcement.

La Pazion Fest in La Paz (February 5 to 7)

If you dance, this one's for you. La Pazion Fest 2027 runs Friday, February 5 to Sunday, February 7 at One La Paz, with salsa, bachata and casino (Cuban-style salsa). Passes run from MXN 5,800 to 7,900 depending on the package.

If the carnival lands on the projected dates, La Paz would have both events on the same weekend. Book a hotel there early.

Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14

There are no public municipal Valentine's events in Los Cabos. What you'll find are private dinners at the resorts, each with its own menu.

Whales: February is a peak month

January and February are the two best months to see humpback whales in Los Cabos. They come to the warm water here to mate and give birth, and February brings mothers with calves close to the coast. They're wild animals and nobody can guarantee a sighting, but this is the best time of year to try.

The official 2026 to 2027 season hasn't been published in Mexico's federal register yet; last season ran December 15, 2025 to April 30, 2026. These ran in earlier years and haven't announced a 2027 edition. Check with the organizer before you plan a trip around one: - Gray Whale Festival in Puerto Adolfo López Mateos. In 2026 it ran January 30 to February 1; for 2027 the only word is "late January". It's a long drive from Cabo, in the middle of the state. - Guaycura Desert Challenge, an off-road race in the CORRS series. It ran February 21, 2026 in San José del Cabo, according to the Gringo Gazette. - Todos Santos Art Festival. The last confirmed edition was February 5 to 9, 2025. We couldn't confirm a 2026 edition.

What people search for that isn't in February

There's no carnival or Mardi Gras in Los Cabos; the region's carnival is the one in La Paz. San José del Cabo's Fiestas Tradicionales are in March, around the 19th. There are no golf, surf or cycling events on the February calendar. IRONMAN 70.3 Los Cabos is in late April, and the Mifel Open tennis tournament is in July.

Fitting a boat day into February

February is a good month on the water. It rains on about 4% of days, highs sit around 77°F (25°C), and the sea is about 72°F (22°C), cool enough that you'll want a rash guard for a long swim. Our trip guide has day-by-day weather and sunset times.

With the long weekend and the 21K taking up mornings, late afternoon is usually the free slot. A 2-hour sunset trip passes the Arch and comes back as the town lights come on. For two, the Bayliner 30 is USD 549 / MXN 10,499. For a group of up to 12, the Sea Ray 40 is USD 879 / MXN 16,799 for 2 hours, or USD 1,199 / MXN 22,799 for 3, which gives you time to look for whales. Prices are per boat, tax included, tip not included. No alcohol is sold on board; guests 18 and over can bring their own.

The long weekend at the start of the month and February 14 go first. If your dates are set, open the planner and pick a departure time that gets you back for your race or your dinner.
