For a family reunion on a yacht in Cabo San Lucas, the Sea Ray 55 takes up to 15 people with air conditioning, cabins and heads for the grandparents and a floating pool and lily pad for the kids. It costs USD 2,129 (MXN 40,399) for three hours or USD 2,709 (MXN 51,499) for four, boarding at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas. For 16 to 18, the Pontoon 38 has two decks and a slide for USD 1,269 (MXN 23,999) for three hours. For 19 or more, you book two yachts on the same departure and route. Prices are per boat with the 16% tax included; the 15% crew tip is not.

Grandparents usually want shade and a bathroom, parents want the kids busy, and teenagers want the slide. The family day page shows the routine with kids, and the whole fleet by headcount is on the yacht by group size page.

For 13 to 15, we'd book the Sea Ray 55. Grandparents can go inside to the A/C when the sun gets to them, and the kids have the floating pool and the lily pad at the swim stop. Bottled water, sodas and ice are included; towels are not, so bring a stack.

For 16 to 18, the Pontoon 38 works, with the slide for the teenagers and an enclosed head with a freshwater shower, but no A/C and no cabin. For 12 who want it hosted, the Azimut 70 includes a menu on board and complimentary drinks served by its crew of three, with two cabins and an A/C salon; the luxury yachts page has the top of the fleet.

19 or more: two yachts on the same route

A reunion of 20 to 36 doesn't fit on one boat, so book two yachts for the same departure time and the same route. Everyone leaves Marina Cabo San Lucas together, both boats slow at the sea lion colony and the Arch for photos of each other, and they anchor near each other for the swim stop. Each yacht keeps its own guests for the whole trip, so split by family branch, or put the grandparents and the small kids on the boat with A/C and the teenagers on the pontoon.

Family size Yachts 3 hours, total Per person
24 Sea Ray 40 + Sea Ray 40 USD 2,398 / MXN 45,598 about USD 100
30 Pontoon 38 + Sea Ray 40 USD 2,598 / MXN 46,798 about USD 87

36 Pontoon 38 + Pontoon 38 USD 2,538 / MXN 47,998 about USD 71

Say in your request that the boats need to sail together, and we line up the departure. Our large groups guide has more pairings.

Grandparents: shade, bathrooms and boarding

Older guests ask us about shade, a bathroom and getting on the boat. The Sea Ray 55 has A/C, cabins and heads, the Pontoon 38 has an enclosed head with a freshwater shower, and the Azimut 70 has two cabins and an A/C salon. For any other yacht, ask us about the bathroom before you book.

Each yacht boards at its own dock in Marina Cabo San Lucas, downtown (the Azimut 70 at the IGY Marina Fuel Dock); your exact dock and a map link come on your boarding pass. Tell us when you book if anyone has limited mobility, and we confirm with the operator what boarding on that yacht involves before you pay, since we don't publish step counts or ramp details for each boat. Our yacht day for seniors guide covers the older guests' day in more detail.

Keep the route inside the bay for a mixed-age group. The Pacific side faces the open ocean, with bigger surf.

Kids: life jackets, the swim stop and food

Tell us the children's ages when you book and we confirm child-size life jackets with the operator before you pay. Anyone who isn't a strong swimmer wears one in the water. Swimming is only when the boat is anchored and the crew says go. Divorce Beach, on the Pacific side, is a photo from the boat, never a swim.

The swim stop is on the calm bay side near Lover's Beach, and it's where the Sea Ray 55's floating pool and lily pad, or the Pontoon 38's slide, keep the kids busy for an hour. Our Cabo with kids guide covers what to pack and what kids eat on board, and our yacht with water toys guide lists every boat's toys.

Food for a reunion

Food is optional and ordered in the planner at cash prices in pesos (card adds 16%). For a family group, the Mexican feast is the easy order: MXN 2,600 for 6 to 8, MXN 4,550 for 14 to 16, one per boat. Box lunches from MXN 238 work when the kids and the grandparents want different things. Add bottled water at MXN 17 if the yacht doesn't include it.

Guests 18 and over may bring their own drinks; the yachts don't sell or serve alcohol. The Azimut 70 and the McKinna 70 include food and complimentary drinks served by the crew.

The family photo at the Arch

A professional photographer can join for USD 180, with all the photos from your charter, paid directly to the photographer, so the three-generation photo at the Arch gets taken with everyone in it. On two boats, add one photographer per boat in the planner. Ask for the group shot in daylight on the way out, when everyone is still dry.

Timing and the one bill

Three hours suits a mixed-age group: the Arch route, a long swim stop and back, before anyone gets tired. A late-afternoon departure catches the sunset; the trip guide has the sunset time for your date.

One person books and pays by secure Stripe link once the date is confirmed in writing, and prices show in USD and MXN, so the family splits one number. If the Port Captain closes the harbor under a storm threat (mostly between September and mid-October), you get a new date or a full refund, so put the boat early in the reunion week.
